Position Summary
Supports the school district in protecting students by ensuring that children arrive and depart the school grounds and adjoining streets in a safe manner while maintaining confidentiality.
Duties and Responsibilities- Supervises and monitors students as they cross streets and school grounds while walking to and from school.
- Stops traffic when necessary.
- Ensures that students comply with school rules and communicates with students to monitor behavior while crossing streets.
- Maintains a safe flow of traffic on and off school grounds where students are present.
- Must be on time at your job post.
- Communicates with community, staff, and students to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.
Skills and Abilities
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
Required to attend and be trained yearly by the Traffic Safety Association. - Experience:
Experience working with children preferred. - Knowledge:
Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required. - Skills:
Good communication skills, required. - Abilities:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, required. - Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and community, required.
- Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook, required.
- Ability to write simple routine reports, required.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, required.
