Position/Type: Other, full time

The Position

Qualified candidates must possess a Masters Degree in Education from an accredited university and a Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in the Mathematics content area. A minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching is required. Qualified candidates must demonstrate knowledge of content standards and an in-depth knowledge of the Science of Reading and math skills acquisition, processes, assessment, and data-driven instruction.

Familiarity and experience with Bridges in Mathematics preferred.

The qualified candidate will assist classroom teachers with the development of strategies, skills, techniques, and capacity to effectively instruct all students. They will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about research-based effective instruction for teachers. The Coach will also provide individualized support for teachers based on the goals and identified needs.

  • Provide leadership by analyzing student achievement data.
  • Diagnose areas for concentration to improve student achievement across the District.
  • Coach and assist teachers to analyze student data and effectively utilize instructional strategies to meet student needs.
  • Instruct and model for teachers the use of instructional strategies, teaching methods, and techniques to improve proficiency in reading and mathematics.
  • Observe classroom instruction, coach teachers, model effective instruction, and provide feedback to ensure instructional strategies and methods are implemented effectively.
  • Assess skills and assist in monitoring of students’ progress within a classroom setting for the purpose of determining research-based strategies needed to improve and enhance student achievement.
  • Design and implement professional development to support teachers in implementing best practices in instruction.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with building and district leadership teams.
  • Provide leadership by analyzing data, diagnosing problems, and modeling strategies that teachers can use to improve academic achievement for all students.
  • Lead and collaborate with teams to design and deliver a coherent academic program for K-12.
  • Participate in state, county, and District conferences to improve student achievement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position reports to the Executive Director of Educational Services.
