The Environmental Engineer - Coastal Systems will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of coastal and waterfront projects throughout Michigan and the Great Lakes region. This position offers a blend of technical engineering work, environmental consulting, project management, and client interaction. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting shoreline stabilization, coastal resiliency, restoration, water resources, and environmental permitting projects.

• Support the planning, design, and implementation of coastal engineering and environmental restoration projects
• Perform technical evaluations related to shoreline processes, erosion control, coastal resiliency, and habitat enhancement
• Prepare engineering studies, technical reports, permit applications, and design documentation
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including environmental scientists, planners, engineers, and regulatory specialists
• Assist with environmental permitting efforts involving federal, state, and local agencies
• Support field investigations, site assessments, and data collection efforts
• Develop cost estimates, project schedules, and technical deliverables
• Manage project tasks while ensuring quality, budget, and schedule objectives are met
• Collaborate directly with clients to understand project goals and provide technical guidance
• Support proposal development, scope preparation, and business development initiatives
• Contribute to the growth of the coastal and water resources practice through innovative technical solutions and client engagement

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in coastal engineering, water resources, environmental consulting, or related disciplines
• Experience with shoreline stabilization, waterfront development, coastal resiliency, restoration, or water resources projects
• Familiarity with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance requirements
• Strong technical writing, communication, and project coordination skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
• Valid driver's license and willingness to conduct occasional fieldwork

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
• Experience supporting Great Lakes, coastal, waterfront, riverine, or restoration projects
• Working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools
• Familiarity with permitting requirements under the Clean Water Act and related environmental regulations
• Experience coordinating with agencies, municipalities, utilities, or private-sector clients
• Prior consulting experience with project management responsibilities
• Demonstrated involvement in proposal development or client relationship management
