Job Summary

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Medical Assistant / Assistant Manager to join our team and help support the daily operations of our practice while delivering exceptional patient care.

Position Overview: The Senior Medical Assistant / Assistant Manager will play a key role in the smooth operation of our medical practice. This dual-role position combines clinical responsibilities with managerial duties to ensure that both patient care and practice operations are running efficiently. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a medical assistant, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage both patient-facing and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Duties:
    • Provide direct patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, and preparing and sterilizing medical equipment.
    • Administer injections, medications, and perform basic laboratory tests as directed by physicians.
    • Assist in minor procedures and ensure patient comfort and safety during exams or treatments.
    • Obtain and document patient history, medical records, and other relevant information.
    • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storing of specimens for lab processing.
    • Educate patients on medical procedures, treatments, medications, and post-care instructions.
    • Maintain infection control standards and ensure cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
    • Coordinate patient flow to ensure timely appointments and reduced wait times.
  • Managerial Duties:
    • Assist with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring a smooth workflow and efficient patient care delivery.
    • Supervise and train junior medical assistants and other support staff, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure quality care and operational efficiency.
    • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, ensuring appropriate patient load and staffing levels.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of office policies and procedures to improve workflow and patient satisfaction.
    • Monitor and manage inventory of medical supplies, ordering necessary items to prevent shortages and ensure cost-efficiency.
    • Act as a liaison between clinical staff, physicians, and administrative teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Assist with billing, coding, and insurance verification tasks as needed.
    • Address patient concerns and complaints in a professional and timely manner, escalating issues to the practice manager or physician as necessary.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.) and maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
    Associate's degree or certification in Medical Assisting (CMA, RMA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a medical assistant, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and patient care protocols.
  • Experience with medical office management, including scheduling, inventory control, and insurance verification.
  • Proficient with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
  • BLS/CPR certification required; additional certifications such as Phlebotomy, X-ray, or ECG preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
