Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe repair and troubleshooting of maintenance equipment, including installation, preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and decommissioning of equipment and machinery.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides hands‑on involvement and completion of tasks and/or direction to contractor(s) and service companies to get projects completed.
  • Performs a variety of service work in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, pipe fitting, carpentry, plumbing, welding and fabrication, sheet metal working, machining, rigging, erection, HVAC, refrigeration, and related disciplines.
  • Takes a proactive approach to safety in all work activities.
  • Assists in the start‑up and shut‑down of the facility as needed.
  • May be required to perform duties other than those specified.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as directed by the manager.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Part, material, and service ordering, scheduling, researching, purchasing, and maintaining records, files, manuals, and other shop maintenance related items.
  • Maintain organization of the Maintenance Crib & Office, ensuring tools and equipment are operational and consumable parts are inventoried and available.
  • Maintain all shop process control instrument calibration requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and enforce industry guidelines set by OSHA, ANSI, EPA, NFPA, OCWD, and TS16949:2002 standards.
  • Ensure 6S, housekeeping, and health and safety standards are maintained.
  • Operate in a manner that reinforces, supports, and is consistent with the Cooper Standard Leadership Model.
Education and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two‑year college degree or applicable technical training and certification preferred.
  • Typically two or more years of experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.
  • Experience with rubber or plastic extrusion/molding and extrusion equipment preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; use of Solid Works and Master Cam software is a plus.
  • Forklift/Lift Truck / Aerial Lift operator experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to read metric and imperial prints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
  • Positive teamwork and attitude required.
  • Experience with MIOSHA standards and Lockout/Tagout preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
Work Environment / Conditions
  • Professional office environment with occasional work on the manufacturing floor.
  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on the manufacturing floor.
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required.
  • Equipment used requires proper training to avoid injury.
