Job Summary

Under the supervision of the team leaders, the Treatment Specialist performs responsibilities consistent with safety and security measures, policies and procedures and daily operations of the program. Activities include facilitating and developing family relationships, case management, practicing and modeling core program therapeutic aspects, and maintaining facility security. The individual must demonstrate the ability to work within a team setting, exhibit patience, confidence in decision‑making, empathy, advanced interpersonal skills, and persistence in challenging situations.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Facilitate in‑home family work. Tasks include teaching program interventions/therapeutic approaches, coaching, assisting families in setting expectations, and helping with problem solving.
  • Provide case management. Develop treatment plans, track treatment goals, modify treatment direction as necessary, and consistently utilize the treatment plan to guide methods of care. Maintain case files, attend to medical/dental needs, facilitate team meetings, schedule home passes/appointments, and keep families and teams apprised of relevant information.
  • Utilize therapeutic interventions within the facility. Facilitate groups, guide conflict resolution, mediate conflict/crisis, aid in de‑escalation, teach self‑evaluation, and educate residents in skills/strategies in line with the center’s therapeutic approach.
  • Maintain facility security by monitoring residents closely, performing searches and building security checks as needed, and documenting incidents.
  • Administer medications according to physician orders, provide basic first aid as necessary, assess injuries and illnesses, and determine need for medical care in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Coordinate and assist residents with daily activities. Plan and facilitate community service and exercise outings, support residents with school and group work, and teach basic life skills such as hygiene, laundry, cleaning, and cooking.
  • Process resident intake. Document all required resident personal information, conduct personal searches, and orient new residents and parents to the facility’s philosophy, policies, procedures, and program rules.
