School Social Worker
Make a direct impact on students’ lives in a dynamic middle school setting, working as a School Social Worker on a part-time basis. This contract role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with an experienced full-time Social Worker, providing mentorship and support—perfect for someone new to the field or looking to grow their experience in educational environments.
As a Social Worker in this middle school, you’ll work with a varied caseload, primarily composed of traditional middle school students, with some students requiring additional behavioral support. You’ll have the flexibility to set your own consistent three-day-per-week schedule, enabling a balanced work-life routine—the school day runs from 7:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
What it takes to thrive in this role:- Current Michigan SSW 310 approval or preliminary approval (required)
- Experience or training in school-based social work, ideally at the middle-school level
- Calm, positive approach to managing students with challenging or aggressive behaviors
- Strong collaborative and communication skills to work with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to supporting social, emotional, and behavioral well-being
- Deliver social-emotional support and counseling to middle school students
- Develop and implement intervention strategies for students with behavioral needs
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and families to support student success
- Maintain documentation, progress notes, and compliance with school and district guidelines
- Receive support and guidance from a seasoned, full-time Social Worker on campus
