Extensive. Hiring Range: $19.54 – $24.33 – $28.38, commensurate with verified qualifications. Indian Preference applies in accordance with Ordinance #15‑600‑02.

Summary

The primary function of a victim advocate is to provide culturally competent direct services to Native and non‑Native victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, teen dating violence, human trafficking, and child sexual assault. This position is funded by federal grant awards and will provide support, advocacy, referral, safety planning, crisis intervention, judicial advocacy, and other services to identify and meet survivors’ needs.

Employment

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in human services, social services, criminal justice, or related fields; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of one year experience providing victim advocacy, direct services, or crisis intervention/mental‑health services.
Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under the Tribe’s insurance policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide cultural advocacy and direct services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, teen dating violence, human trafficking, and child sexual assault and their families.

Assist or accompany survivors when requested by public safety at crime scenes, medical facilities, or other safe locations.

Provide support, referrals, and information related to emergency needs, legal representation, crime victim’s rights, and victim compensation information and applications.

Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.

Complete intake forms, document services and referrals, and conduct thorough case management on all cases.

Understand and implement the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) confidentiality provisions.

At the survivor’s request and consent, work closely and interact with tribal, state, and/or federal law enforcement, prosecutors, criminal investigators, service providers, governmental agencies, and the public to ensure the survivor’s needs are addressed.

Willing to meet with survivors at safe locations and/or transport survivors to court or support services agencies, or medical appointments.

Maintain good working relationships with tribal and community resource agencies.

Respond to cases of domestic violence or sexual assault during and/or after business hours.

Attend monthly collaborative meetings with Native and non‑Native domestic violence and sexual assault program providers.

Attend program awareness events that promote the program cultural services.

Participate in resource source table events, expos, or other outreach/awareness community events.

Participate and be willing to attend trainings that are grant‑approved and specific to the job role.

Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of work and comply with all applicable tribal, state, or federal laws and procedures.

Perform all other duties related to the position as assigned by supervisor and/or department director and/or Executive Lead.
