Position: Program Director, Adult Education Program (AEP)
Summary
Plans, organizes and directs adult education and noncredit programs that meet grant and program requirements. Establishes program goals and collaborates with faculty and consortium partners to develop curricula that serve targeted adult learner populations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work with and participate in the development of plans for the Coast Adult Education Consortium members to implement a comprehensive program by integrating member programs and services and facilitating transitions into postsecondary education and the workforce. Recommend strategies and goals, develop and implement annual plans for the Adult Education Program (AEP), ensuring consistency with AEP and district plans and monitoring implementation and evaluation.Establish standards of service delivery, specific goals, and performance measures. Supervise, advise, train, motivate, and assist program employees to achieve goals and improve service quality.Provide leadership for the development and implementation of career preparation and college readiness (enhanced) noncredit courses and certificates consistent with AEP‑defined program areas. Direct and oversee adult education noncredit instructional programs.Develop class schedules and site selection to maximize student access. Assign personnel, monitor enrollment and class size, determine continuation or cancellation of classes based on enrollment and cost considerations, and recommend course offerings based on community needs, funds, and instructor availability.Organize, attend, or chair administrative and staff meetings as required. Serve on college and district committees and special projects, providing leadership as part of the administrative leadership team.Support and coordinate activities and projects between faculty, local adult education schools, continuation schools, regional occupational programs, and the local community for AEP‑defined programs.Develop marketing strategies and methods to promote the Coast Adult Education Consortium programs and services, including presentations at businesses, schools, and agencies within the community.Oversee a marketing plan for adult education programs, develop marketing strategies and methods to promote courses and programs, collaborate with advertising and marketing services to conduct needs assessments, enhance visibility of programs, and recruit students.Maintain current knowledge of instructional theories and technologies pertinent to assigned projects; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances to perform duties efficiently.Develop and monitor budgets and maximize financial resources. Supervise the administration of projects funded by AEP and other contracts, agreements, and grants.Direct the preparation and maintenance of detailed and comprehensive records, reports, and files related to consortium personnel, facilities, and activities; ensure collection, recording and reporting of required enrollment and performance data. Collaborate with Research and Institutional Effectiveness for data assessment and state reporting requirements.Perform other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.Abide by all district policies and procedures including Board Policy 3050 – Code of Professional Ethics.Qualifications Knowledge and Skills
Adult education theories, concepts, and prevailing practice in delivering adult education.Dynamics of a culturally and economically diverse community and its educational and retraining needs.Budget preparation, management, and reporting.Grant writing and grant administration.Philosophy and objectives of the community college.Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and databases.Advertising and marketing methods and techniques.Designing, developing, and implementing effective, integrated programs and services.Personnel management, supervision, and evaluation.Oral and written language skills to prepare reports and professional correspondence.Human relations skills to conduct performance reviews, deliver presentations, and convey technical information to a variety of audiences.Abilities
