Adult Education Outreach Specialist

About Coastline College Coastline College, established in 1976 as the nation's first campus-free college, has evolved from a "college beyond walls" into a leader in online, competency-based, correspondence, and in-person education. The mission of the Adult Education Program is to engage, educate, and empower adult learners by advancing literacy skills and employment opportunities to achieve a better quality of life.
The department provides instructional programs and student support services to individuals who are interested in improving their basic English and math skills, gaining U.S. citizenship, improving their English language skills, helping their children in school, and increasing employability by learning new skills/trades.
Adult Education serves nontraditional and historically disadvantaged students including first-generation college students, immigrants, English language learners, individuals without a high school diploma/GED, individuals who are unemployed, students with intellectual disabilities, and individuals at or near poverty.
The Adult Education Office provides wrap-around student support services that include enrollment and registration support, student orientation, academic counseling, course level placement tools, resources to navigate the higher education system, student testing services, referrals to on- and off-campus resources, and other personalized supports to ensure student success and retention.
Promotes enrollment and retention of adult learners and other economically disadvantaged students into special programs offered through one of the District's colleges and/or its learning partners. Participates in, and implements activities that reach out to potential students using techniques such as speaking to community groups, organizing programs and events to enhance school readiness, and making direct contact with potential students.
