Westminster, CA - Hybrid (Tue + Thu onsite)
18 months contract, up to $48.91/hour
Hydrogen Group is currently supporting a leading utility client in the search for an AMI 2.0 Metering Engineer for an 18-month hybrid contract opportunity based in Westminster, CA.
The Engineer will support the validation, testing, deployment, and integration of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) 2.0 metering solutions. This role will collaborate closely with internal engineering teams, field operations, IT stakeholders, and external metering vendors to support technical feasibility, interoperability, testing, deployment readiness, and field support activities.
Key Responsibilities- Support validation and testing of AMI 2.0 metering hardware and functionality
- Collaborate with metering vendors on solution development, troubleshooting, and enhancements
- Support integration and system testing of metering solutions and grid management applications
- Conduct hardware specification testing and interoperability evaluations
- Support troubleshooting activities for customer applications and field tools
- Assist with AMI 2.0 field pilot deployments and foundational use cases
- Develop procedures, documentation, and job aids for Field Technicians and Meter Operations teams
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders during deployment and change management activities
- Support field readiness and operational integration efforts
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience supporting metering systems, AMI technologies, smart grid systems, or related utility engineering environments
- Understanding of AMI systems, interoperability standards, and testing methodologies
- Experience working in lab or testing environments
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, field operations, and vendor teams
- Utility industry experience
- Experience supporting field deployments and technician readiness
- Familiarity with wireless communication protocols and IT systems integration
- Experience supporting smart grid, grid modernization, or advanced metering initiatives
