Meat Clerk

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain an appealing presentation of steaks, chops, roasts, chicken, and other products; ensure fresh appearance, odorless, and proper packaging firmness.
• Use the slice machine for lunchmeat and the small grinder for grinding meats.
• Respond to customer requests and encourage additional sales.
• Handle meat correctly following safety protocols, maintaining cleanliness of the department.
• Stand, walk, reach, crouch, kneel, and climb ladders as required for restocking and equipment maintenance.
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures.

• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; basic math skills.
• Friendly, pleasant, and outgoing customer‑service oriented.
• Reliable, punctual, with high integrity and drug‑free status.
• Clean and presentable appearance.
• Physical ability to lift at least 30 pounds, stand for four consecutive hours, and work in refrigerated and cold storage environments.
• Ability to use knives efficiently and knowledge of basic cuts of meat.
• Willingness to climb ladders to retrieve items from overhead racks.
• Capacity to endure brief periods (up to 10 minutes) in temperatures as low as 10 °F (or per facility specifications).
• Physical mobility or agility to disassemble and clean meat‑department equipment such as saws and grinders.
• Flexibility in scheduling hours.
