Regional General Superintendent (Industrial / Mechanical)
Gavin Heath is partnering with a client in Denver, CO looking to add a Regional General Superintendent (Industrial / Mechanical) to their team. The role is a Direct Hire position.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide senior field leadership and oversight across multiple complex industrial construction projects, ensuring work is properly staffed, planned, coordinated, and executed.
- Lead and support Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, and direct-hire craft personnel while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, productivity, schedule, and overall field performance.
- Oversee self-perform industrial mechanical construction involving process piping, welding, structural/iron work, rigging, heavy lifts, equipment setting, and related scopes.
- Direct client planning and craft resource allocation based on project schedules, workload, productivity, and changing field requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, construction equipment, cranes, and other resources required for safe and efficient project execution.
- Provide direct field leadership on individual projects when required, including oversight of craft supervision and day-to-day construction activities.
- Review and interpret contracts, construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, manufacturer information, and other project documentation.
- Participate in project planning and controls, including budgeting, forecasting, cost awareness, procurement coordination, schedule management, client forecasting, and short-term look-ahead planning.
- Monitor project performance and proactively identify schedule, client, productivity, cost, safety, quality, and constructability concerns.
- Partner with project management, engineering, clients, field leadership, subcontractors, and trade partners to resolve technical and operational challenges.
- Ensure construction activities comply with applicable codes, project specifications, contractual requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining visibility into field execution, staffing requirements, project risks, and overall performance.
Qualifications include:
- 15+ years of progressive construction leadership experience, with significant experience at the Superintendent, General Superintendent, or comparable senior field-leadership level.
- Extensive experience with self-perform industrial mechanical construction and direct-hire craft work forces.
- Strong background in heavy industrial or process-intensive environments such as power generation, mining, steel/metals, client, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, or similar facilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of process piping, welding, rigging, heavy/critical lifts, equipment setting, structural/iron work, and industrial mechanical construction practices.
- Proven experience directly leading Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, and sizable craft work forces.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating cranes, heavy equipment, material movement, and other construction resources.
- Experience leading major industrial construction projects, including projects valued at $50M+, with larger $100M+ project experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to simultaneously oversee multiple active projects with varying scopes, schedules, staffing requirements, and operational challenges.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, project financials, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, client planning, productivity, procurement, and cost control.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, RFIs, schedules, and other technical/project documentation.
- Strong field presence combined with the administrative and commercial capabilities required to manage complex construction operations.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred; equivalent progressive industrial construction and field leadership experience will be considered.
- OSHA 30 or comparable safety training preferred.
- Experience with construction/project management platforms such as Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar tools preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively (approximately 75%) is required.
