Aborn Pet Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic animal and people loving person who is also an organized person to join our CSR team. We are seeking full time and part time applicants. Our CSRs (Customer Service Representative) are responsible for answering the phones, scheduling appointments, greeting clients, admitting and checking out patients, processing payments, managing financial information, and communicating information between clients and staff.
Our ideal candidate will have at least one‑year experience in a veterinary setting and a strong customer service background. If you possess an exceptional can‑do, friendly personality and have a desire to learn, come join our team! Experience using an electronic medical record system is a plus. The ideal candidate must have the ability to stay on task, be a positive role model, work energetically, have the ability to show empathy toward clients, have excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a commitment to outstanding client service.
Compensation will align with skill level and experience. Range $20-25 per hour.

- Answer incoming telephone calls by the third ring, using proper telephone etiquette and a three‑part greeting.
- Operate a multi‑line telephone system and transfer calls and pages.
- Communicate with clients regarding scheduling, inquiries, emergencies, prescription refills, invoices, and pre‑operative instructions.
- Maintain appointment schedule, tell clients wait times, and personalize communications.
- Schedule outpatient, surgical, hospitalized, and boarding appointments using computerized scheduling.
- Enter and retrieve records, generate reports, maintain database, perform backups and printing of correspondence.
- Promote the hospital, educate clients on preventive medicine and vaccination, distribute handouts, new client kits, and gift items.
- Adhere to hospital policies, standards, and procedures, including uniforms, grooming, and use of equipment.
- Retrieves and files medical records, purges inactive files, updates client files and scans documents.
- Complete patient admission forms, obtain histories, and relay information to veterinarians and technicians.
- Enter charges, verify insurance, and present discharge instructions and medications to clients.
- Accept payments, process cash, checks, credit card, gift certificates, and balance cash drawer.
- Assist with facility cleaning, restock displays, open and close the practice.
- Represent the hospital with courtesy, tact, and positive attitude in all client interactions.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- HS Diploma or educational equivalent.
- At least one year of recent experience in a veterinary or office environment.
- Knowledge of general office practices, telephone techniques, and patient record management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform clerical work quickly and accurately.
- Experience with multiple‑line telephone systems and handling cash and other payments.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and empathy toward clients.
- Commitment to outstanding client service.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently and more with assistance.
- Capacity to work energetic, stay on task for an entire shift of 8‑10 hours.
- Preferred:
Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, proficiency typing 45 wpm, 10‑key machine, and additional computer skills.
