Position Description

The Student & Young Adult Ministry Director reports directly to the Executive Pastor under the direction of the Senior Pastor. The role will include, but is not limited to the following:
Directing the spiritual growth of the middle school, high school, and young adult ministries of Victory Church. The Director is responsible for leading weekly ministry gatherings for middle/high school students and young adults, directing ongoing discipleship programs (including small groups), and conducting annual events such as camps, retreats, outreaches, conferences, and mission trips.

The Student & Young Adult Ministry Director leads efforts to recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams and leaders, both students and adults. They will manage the social media and other forms of communication to students and young adults, parents and the community for their ministry areas consistent with the standards of the church, always maintaining and protecting the voice of the church.

They will ensure the student and young adult ministries are healthy and operate in a way that is consistent with the mission and guiding principles of the church while serving and supporting the larger vision of Victory Church.

The expectation of the Student & Young Adult Ministry Director is to give leadership that enables these ministry areas to grow “deep and wide,” attracting new students and young adults to bring numerical growth while simultaneously creating an atmosphere for discipleship, spiritual growth, and authentic Christian community. The Director will help create clear pathways for students to transition successfully from high school into young adult engagement and long-term involvement in the local church.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a ministry related field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar ministry position, preferably in an equivalent or larger church size (500+ minimum)
  • Proven ability to grow a student and/or young adult ministry numerically and spiritually, preferably having given oversight to a ministry of 75+
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including comfort with public speaking
  • Presents with an enthusiastic, patient, friendly, and professional demeanor
  • Trustworthy; able to anticipate needs and priorities independently; focuses on the tasks at hand and efficient follow-through
  • Possess general proficiency with Mac applications, Church Community Builder, Basecamp, etc.
  • Agree with and represent Victory Church’s Statement of Faith
Position-Specific Responsibilities
  • Give direct spiritual and leadership oversight to all aspects of the middle school, high school, and young adult ministries of Victory Church.
  • Serve as a traditional “youth pastor,” conducting a weekly service in which the Student & Young Adult Ministry Director is the primary communicator.
  • Lead and oversee a thriving young adult ministry that creates opportunities for worship, discipleship, community, leadership development, and outreach for individuals ages 18–30.
  • Recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams and leaders.
  • Work with the Family Director to develop and administer a comprehensive spiritual growth plan for the students and young adults of Victory Church including small groups and other discipleship-focused programs.
  • Encourage and equip parents to be involved in the spiritual formation of their students.
  • Create intentional pathways for graduating seniors to transition into young adult ministry and continued church involvement.
  • Conduct annual camps, retreats, conferences, and mission opportunities.
  • Host events targeted toward connecting unreached/unchurched students and young adults at least twice annually.
  • Build relationships with local schools, colleges, and community organizations to expand outreach opportunities among students and young adults.
  • Manage and operate the Student & Young Adult Ministry budget.
  • Provide Biblical counseling, prayer, and ministry to students, young adults, and their families as needed.
