Overview

Non-Bilingual Part-Time:
Facilitator, Adult Learning Lab at Aims Community College. The Facilitator will be responsible for teaching basic skills to students with varying academic levels while integrating GED, college prep, and career readiness skills. Help students meet academic goals and prepare them to take and pass exams (particularly the GED) and prepare students for success in college/career readiness programs. Administer and score GED pretests and other standardized or internal exams.

Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct students on material needed to earn GED; provide GED information to all individuals via phone, email, or in person on options available to GED students.
  • Help students prepare and study for GED and other exams; assess student readiness to take exams.
  • Teach basic skills in math, science, English, and literature; tutor students individually.
  • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into daily instruction; observe and evaluate student performance.
  • Utilize various curriculum resources and public library resources.
  • Administer pre-test GED assessments and other assessments to students; proctor examinations when necessary and ensure test integrity.
  • Assist with administrative aspects of testing (data collection, file management, answering phones, arranging accommodations).
  • Comply with applicable policies and testing guidelines; manage student behavior per college policies.
  • Collaborate with the Adult Education Coordinator to ensure initiatives are met; facilitate adult basic education workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus one year of instructional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with transitional programming (employment/college/vocational training).
  • Experience administering various tests (academic testing and/or placement testing).
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and handle interruptions; effective communication with students, staff, and administrators.
  • Technical proficiency with Windows-based PCs, Microsoft Office, and related software; excellent customer service skills; ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle confidential tasks with discretion following FERPA guidelines; flexible schedule including evenings.
  • Ability to work with students of differing ability levels and academic needs; ability to teach a variety of core subjects.
