We are seeking a caring, compassionate, organized, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support the academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional growth of students in a collaborative school environment. The ideal candidate is skilled in differentiated instruction, relationship building, case management, and trauma-informed educational practices while maintaining high expectations for student success.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and facilitate instruction in specialized courses and activities including:
- Executive Functioning Skills
- Reading
- Writing
- Math
- Social and Emotional Regulation
- Academic Intervention
- Develop and implement engaging, individualized lessons that support diverse learning needs and promote student independence.
- Manage classroom systems, routines, and behavior supports, including implementation and monitoring of a Behavior Criteria System.
- Provide social-emotional and behavioral interventions within the classroom to support student regulation, engagement, and success.
- Support students in inclusive and general education environments including classrooms, lunch periods, assemblies, community activities, and school events.
- Deliver confidential, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care and support to students and families.
- Serve as a Special Education case manager by:
- Coordinating IEP services and compliance
- Monitoring student progress
- Collaborating with families, teachers, related service providers, and administration
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized supports and interventions.
- Build meaningful, positive relationships with students and families that foster trust, communication, and student growth.
- Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community partners.
- Demonstrate excellent organization and time-management skills while balancing instructional responsibilities, case management duties, and compliance requirements.
- Valid Special Education teaching license/certification.
- Highly Qualified status under the No Child Left Behind Act (or applicable state/federal requirements).
- Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and instructional accommodations/modifications.
- Experience implementing behavior supports, executive functioning strategies, and social-emotional interventions preferred.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, trauma-informed practices, and culturally competent care.
