Evaluation Procedures:
Student workers are evaluated on a continuous basis.
Scope: The Office of Student Belonging seeks dynamic student leaders to serve as EDGE Mentors for the EDGE Program. EDGE Mentors playan important rolein helping incoming students transition successfully to McDaniel College by fostering belonging, connection, leadership development, and community engagement.
EDGE Mentors will work closely with incoming students-particularly students transitioning from Baltimore City schools- to help support their academic, social, and personal adjustment to campus life.
Responsibilities:
- Build supportive relationships with assigned EDGE mentees
- Assist incoming students with their transition to college life
- Participate in twice-monthly mentorship experiences and gatherings
- Facilitate community-building and relationship-building activities
- Support life skills and leadership workshops for mentees
- Connect students with campus resources and opportunities
- Serve as positive role models and peer leaders
- Maintain regular communication and check‑ins with mentees
- Assist with EDGE events, workshops, and programs
- Participate in mentor training and professional development opportunities
Schedule:
- Up to 4 hours weekly, Monday-Friday
- Weekly mentor responsibilities and check‑ins
- Participation in twice-monthly EDGE mentorship gatherings
- Some evening and weekend commitments may be required
- Participation in early arrival training before the start of the semester
- Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College.
- Minimumcumulative GPA of 2.75
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to leadership, community, and belonging
- Ability tomaintainprofessionalism and accountability
- Willingness to support and engage with incoming students
