Aftercare & Summer Camp Program Supervisor
Responsibility for ensuring quality standards and uniform practices in the After School and Summer Camp programs, including routine monitoring, regulatory compliance, and oversight of operations at all school sites.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead an overall vision for program quality and success.
- Oversee regulatory operations of the After School and Summer Camp programs.
- Understand department, school, childcare licensing (CDHS), and local health department regulations.
- Conduct on‑site audits of program operations and files, identifying areas of risk for noncompliance.
- Work with Site Leaders to resolve discrepancies in standards, policies, practices, and procedures.
- Monitor compliance activities, including violations, complaints, and responses.
- Be present at the center at least 60% of the day.
- Audit each site’s child and employee files for compliance.
- Prepare financial records and reports (purchase reconciliations, budgeting, billing, tuition payments, deposits, Child Care Assistance Program, delinquent account follow‑up).
- Provide research and reports for the department as requested.
- Maintain up‑to‑date employee and family handbooks.
- Assist with staff meetings and trainings, including alerting staff to policy changes and providing continuing education opportunities.
- Fill in for absent staff as needed to maintain staff‑to‑child ratios.
- When working directly with children, follow program policies and procedures, ensuring daily safety, staff‑to‑child ratio, attendance, and discipline.
- Assist Site Leaders with ordering and purchasing supplies and snacks.
- Audit each site to ensure age‑appropriate activities that engage students in educational and enrichment activities (math, literacy, science, games, outdoor time).
- Monitor employee schedules and school time‑clock system.
- Communicate program information and respond to phone calls, e‑mails, and written correspondence to school administration, staff, and parents.
- Attend and participate in assigned meetings.
- Maintain CPR/First Aid and medication certification, distribute medication as directed, and provide general first aid when needed.
- Review and inform site leaders and staff of any 504 Plans and IEPs to ensure compliance.
- Ensure policy and procedures are reviewed within one month of hire.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Demonstrated maturity in judgement and administrative ability.
- Skill to appropriately supervise and direct school‑age children in structured and unstructured settings.
- Minimum of 3 years verifiable experience as a Director running child‑care/school‑age care programs (preferred).
- Degree and/or licensure in education or a related field (preferred).
- Willingness to complete appropriate training within the first nine months of employment if needed.
- Criminal background check.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Standard precautions certification.
- Medication administration certification.
- Recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect certification.
- Playground safety and injury prevention.
- Current physical examination before starting work.
- Completion of all Academy After School program and licensing required paperwork.
- Annual 15 clock hours of continuing education per licensing mandate.
- Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
- Strong customer service and public relations skills.
- Strong interpersonal relations skills.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Intermediate accounting and math skills.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn current software.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other departments to solve problems.
- Ability to analyze information and make correct assumptions based on acquired knowledge of appropriate contacts, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and balance multiple priorities.
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies and authorizer policies.
