SUMMARY:

Provide equitable and inclusive education to our culturally diverse secondary student population, both as a classroom teacher and language specialist. Create a supportive and culturally responsive learning environment; implement differentiated instruction tailored to the linguistic and academic needs of multilingual learners; teach secondary level English Language Arts classes to ML students; collaborate with colleagues and specialists to develop effective instructional plans;

and foster strong partnerships with culturally diverse families and communities. Utilize expertise in language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and cross-cultural communication to promote the academic success and social-emotional well-being of all students, while advocating for equity and inclusivity in education.

• Complete the identification, assessment, and enrollment process for all students determined to have an influence of a language other than English.
• Act as point of contact for newcomer strategies and supports. This includes ensuring that the front office staff, classroom teachers, and administrators have a plan for welcoming newcomer students and their families to the school.
• Analyze student data to make appropriate instructional decisions for MLs. Work collaboratively with CLDE resource teacher, site-based instructional coach, and other school staff to monitor student progress and determine appropriate instructional supports to have accelerated academic and linguistic growth for ML students.
