Position Summary
The 1:1 Student Support Long-Term Substitute provides individualized support to one student during the morning school day. This position works under the direction of the classroom teacher to support the student's educational, behavioral, social, and/or personal needs.
This position is primarily focused on student support and does not require lesson planning or independent instructional planning. The individual will assist the student in accessing instruction, participating in school activities, following routines, and developing independence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide consistent, individualized support to one assigned student throughout the morning school day.
- Assist the student in accessing classroom instruction, assignments, activities, and school routines.
- Support the student's academic, behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and/or physical needs as directed by school staff.
- Reinforce directions, expectations, routines, and strategies provided by the classroom teacher or Student Services staff.
- Provide assistance with transitions between classrooms, activities, and other school locations as needed.
- Encourage independence and appropriate student participation rather than completing tasks for the student.
- Assist with implementation of student accommodations, modifications, behavioral strategies, and other supports as directed by qualified staff.
- Monitor and communicate relevant student needs, behaviors, progress, or concerns to the classroom teacher and Student Services staff.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- Follow all district policies, procedures, safety protocols, and staff directions.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive relationship with the student.
- Assist with other student-support duties as assigned by the building principal or Student Services staff.
