Overview

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our renewables and power delivery team. The successful applicant will assist senior geotechnical staff on renewable energy, substations, transmission lines, and other power projects. Work may involve estimating, mentoring staff, field and in‑situ testing, laboratory coordination, geotechnical analysis and design, report preparation, and construction monitoring.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in geotechnical site investigations; assign laboratory tests, analyze field and lab data, and prepare investigation reports.
  • Interpret and analyze geotechnical data to establish type, classification and engineering characteristics of materials.
  • Complete or assist with geotechnical engineering analyses including seepage, slope stability, bearing capacity, rotational stiffness, liquefaction, and settlement analyses.
  • Keep management advised of work status, workload, problems and progress related to assignments.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals, bid documents, construction drawings and design reports.
Requirements Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical fundamentals, testing, and general civil/geotechnical design and construction practices. Experience on power‑related projects is a plus.
  • Strong technical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and sound technical writing skills.
  • Flexibility to travel, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and navigate varied terrains associated with construction projects.
  • Ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication in English.
  • Time‑management and prioritization skills.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with Geo Studio, LPile, and other geotechnical software is a plus. Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D is also an asset.
