Job Summary

MTech Mechanical is a leading mechanical design / build contractor in Colorado, and a majority of projects are negotiated in a design build/assist arrangement. Projects are very technical, and include labs, clean rooms, office buildings, process systems, and data centers. MTech’s reputation is built on providing reliable technical expertise and maintaining long-term client relationships.

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with well-established leadership and technical skills to support the Engineering Department. The engineering position focuses primarily on engineering calculation and drawing quality control reviews, training and mentoring of less experienced engineers, writing of specifications and sequences of operation and also supporting in the creation of mechanical construction drawings and documents. This candidate will be a technical leader within MTech and bring industry knowledge to in‑house design‑build solutions.

  • Review and support the preparation of construction documents for mechanical in‑house design/build projects; including Conceptual Design; SD; DD and CD Phases of a project, in collaboration with MTech’s Pre Construction and CAD Operations teams.
  • Assist the Pre Construction team with project pursuits, in the form of conceptual designs, one‑lines, preliminary system selections and high‑level energy analysis, code reviews, and support and attendance at project interviews.
  • Perform final check of all work issued to ensure highest quality, for seal and sign of documents by others in the engineering team or as required.
  • Support the engineering team with coordination with other trades on the project team; architects, general contractors, and other design disciplines; and ability to work collaboratively and present solutions.
  • Evaluate design parameters and system solutions for projects that respond to both the technical and budget requirements of the project.
  • Review and support training for heating, ventilating and cooling load calculations; mechanical system sizing and equipment selections, and has a working knowledge of codes and reference standards.
  • Has an understanding with all facets of a project, from conceptual design, design engineering, LEED analysis and documentation, construction observation, troubleshooting, commissioning support, to project close‑out.
  • Knowledge of building surveys and the installed condition in existing buildings for guidance and direction to engineers and designers.
  • Ability to write drawing and book specifications and sequences of operations for construction documents.
  • Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of Building Codes and familiarity with local jurisdiction amendments.
  • Works with other departments to provide technical expertise in a support role.
  • Acts as a technical leader for other engineers and designers within the department.
  • Overall technical support for the company in resolving project design and/or construction issues, as may be required.
  • Ability to identify existing building temperature control system types for evaluation of upgrades with new apparatus or sequences of operation.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering required from and accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Minimum of 20 years of engineering experience required with skills in mechanical design / build projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit with ability to direct CAD resources.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong interpersonal and decision making skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at different levels within the organization.
