Job SummaryMTech Mechanical is a leading mechanical design/build contractor in Colorado focusing on labs, clean rooms, office buildings, process systems, and data centers. We seek a mid-level Mechanical Design Engineer with strong technical and leadership skills to create mechanical construction documents and support various departments.
Essential Job Functions- Prepare construction documents for mechanical in-house design/build projects, covering conceptual design, SD, DD, and CD phases.
- Assist Pre Construction team with project pursuits, conceptual designs, one-lines, preliminary system selections, high-level energy analysis, code reviews, and project interviews.
- Perform final checks of all work to ensure high quality, seal and sign documents as required.
- Lead coordination with other trades on the project team, including architects, general contractors, and design disciplines; present solutions collaboratively.
- Evaluate design parameters and system solutions to meet technical and budget requirements.
- Prepare heating, ventilating, and cooling load calculations; perform mechanical system sizing and equipment selections; develop knowledge of codes and reference standards.
- Participate in all facets of a project, from conceptual design and design engineering to LEED analysis, construction observation, troubleshooting, commissioning support, and project close‑out.
- Establish and manage engineering design budgets with Project Managers and Pre Construction teams.
- Conduct building surveys to assess installed condition for new design and construction in existing buildings.
- Provide technical expertise across departments in a support role.
- Act as a technical leader for other engineers and designers within the department.
- Attend meetings and participate in local professional organizations such as ASHRAE and ASPE.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain license required.
- Minimum of 7‑10 years of engineering experience in mechanical design/build projects.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
- Strong proficiency in Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal and decision‑making skills.
- Effective communication skills with people at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment or independently with flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
Stand, walk, sit, use hands to pin, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentGeneral office environment. Primarily sedentary with occasional standing and walking up to 20% of the time. Lighting and temperature are reasonable. Standard office equipment available.
