Responsibilities
  • Develop, evaluate, recommend, and implement office- and project-specific safety plans, Site
    -Specific Safety and Health Plans (SSSHPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and pre-task planning requirements based on applicable regulations, company standards, project conditions, and identified workplace hazards.
  • Interpret and apply OSHA, NFPA, company safety standards, client requirements, and other applicable health and safety requirements to varied workplace and project circumstances requiring analysis and professional judgment.
  • Conduct safety assessments, audits, inspections, and incident reviews; analyze findings, identify contributing factors and areas of risk, and recommend corrective and preventive actions to management and project leadership.
  • Evaluate workplace hazards and operational risks and determine or recommend appropriate engineering controls, administrative controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), training, and other risk-mitigation measures consistent with regulatory requirements and company policy.
  • Advise managers, project teams, and employees regarding safety compliance, risk mitigation, corrective action, and implementation of company and client safety programs and requirements.
  • Exercise discretion in evaluating safety and compliance concerns and determining when matters require corrective action, escalation, additional investigation, or management review.
  • Evaluate office and project emergency preparedness programs; identify deficiencies or areas of risk, recommend corrective actions, coordinate drills, and assess program effectiveness.
  • Develop training, and communications tailored to regulatory requirements, operational conditions, and identified risk areas.
  • Administer safety instrumentation and PPE programs, including evaluating program needs, establishing or recommending requirements, supporting fit testing, monitoring inventory, and ensuring appropriate controls are available for office and field operations.
  • Partner with project and office leadership to support a strong safety culture and provide recommendations on significant health and safety matters affecting employees, projects, and company operations.
  • Maintain appropriate safety documentation and records and prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations for management review.
  • Perform other safety and compliance responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of the position.
Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of progressively responsible safety experience in construction, engineering, industrial, utilities, or a related environment, including experience evaluating hazards, applying safety standards, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying safety regulations, standards, policies, or procedures to workplace or project-specific circumstances.
  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable OSHA, NFPA, and occupational health and safety requirements and the ability to interpret and apply requirements to varying workplace and project circumstances.
  • Ability to independently evaluate safety risks, analyze complex or varied situations, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding significant safety, compliance, and operational matters within the scope of assigned authority.
  • Ability to interpret regulations, policies, standards, technical information, and project requirements and determine their application to specific circumstances.
