Position: Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Job Description

We are seeking a Platform Engineer with strong experience in Kubernetes and Open Shift to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available platforms. The role focuses on enabling development teams through robust platform services, automation, and best practices. The ideal candidate is passionate about infrastructure as code, platform reliability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes and Open Shift clusters across cloud and/or on-prem environments
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support containerized application delivery
  • Implement infrastructure as code
  • Monitor platform performance, availability, and security; respond to incidents and optimize systems
  • Develop and maintain platform tooling, automation, and self-service capabilities
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to improve platform usability and reliability
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security and governance standards
  • Communicate with multidisciplinary SAFe Agile teams and articulate technical concepts and ideas effectively.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI with CI poly (or willingness to obtain a CI poly)
  • Minimum of 14 years of total professional experience in a technical support role
  • Demonstrated technical experience with Dev Sec Ops
  • Demonstrated experience working with Kubernetes in production environments
  • Demonstrated experience with Red Hat Open Shift
  • Proficiency in container technologies such as Docker or CRI-O
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI)
  • Open source and custom application deployments and maintenance experience
  • Capable of working effectively with a geographically distributed ops & development team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers and team in written and oral forums
  • Willingness to work 90% or as needed in a SCIF environment with some on-call or after-hours onsite support for customer’s mission in either Herndon, VA;
    Westminster, CO; or St. Louis, MO
  • Degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in a technical field
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Go)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Understanding of networking, security, and Linux systems administration
  • Kubernetes certifications (e.g., CKA, CKAD, or CKS)
  • Familiarity with policy and security tools (e.g., OPA, Kyverno)
  • Experience with hybrid or multi-cloud platform architectures
  • Background in SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices
  • Experience working with geospatial technology and tools
  • CompTIA Security+ or comparable certification for privileged user access
  • Experience in/or supporting military/intelligence or knowledge of some IC PED systems is a plus
