Job Description
BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) seeks a self‑motivated and detail‑oriented Material Proposal Coordinator to contribute to the Bill of Material Pricing Team in response to BAE Systems SMS Customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs). This second‑level position is part of the Supply Chain team and provides an opportunity to develop skills in the proposal process, specifically material pricing, in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
Eligibilityand Clearance
Must be a U.S. person able to obtain a Top Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required. Travel percentage is less than 10% and the position is on‑site.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, lead, and perform a BOM effort from proposal kick‑off through supporting document submission for the cost volume.
- Attend proposal kick‑off meetings and director or vice‑president level reviews.
- Become an expert in MPP and its functionality; create and present Supply Chain Risk Summary slides at executive reviews.
- Request and receive supplier quotes; review quotes for accuracy and validity; populate the pricing software.
- Review the top 80% cost drivers in the Bill of Materials for accuracy.
- Coordinate with the proposal team regarding workload and deadline requests.
- Manage Excel spreadsheets and report progress through various stages of the quoting process.
- Provide input, analysis, and support for annual additional quantities.
- Evaluate supplier proposals, including Commercial Off the Shelf parts.
- Assist Category Specialists with quote entry and review.
- Review supplier pricing and analyze price deltas.
- Apply internal BAE Systems SMS policies to adjust part quantities based on additional quantity percentages.
- Locate and review engineering drawings to identify parts, materials, and tooling needs.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and a positive work environment.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments and units.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree plus two or more years of related experience. A master’s degree or Ph.D. may substitute for two years of experience.
- Ability to understand and influence the proposal process, ask clarifying questions, and meet customer deadlines.
- Experience leading proposal activities from initial request through submission.
- Excellent multitasking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working efficiently with multiple priorities and changing deadlines.
- Experience supporting local and virtual team members across various geographic locations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Outlook, and Word) and Adobe Professional.
- Understanding of BAE Systems SMS proposal software or similar proposal and pricing software.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance upon offer acceptance.
- High‑level proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Word, and Adobe Professional.
- Relevant background in Business, Supply Chain, Mathematics, Data Science, Accounting, IT, Computer Science, Project Management, or General Science.
Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. The position requires regular in‑person engagement on‑site at least three days per week.
Compensation and LocationFull‑time salary range: $67,406 – $114,590.
