BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) is seeking a strategic and astute Production Materials Planner to manage the planning and acquisition of materials across the SMS sector. In this role on the MPPC team, you will utilize analytical thinking to anticipate material needs, expedite critical requests, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to ensure seamless production and assembly operations.
The ideal candidate combines proficiency in ERP systems and advanced data analysis with solid relationship-management skills to drive operational efficiency.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
The Integrated Supply Chain team has a direct impact on program success, acting as a critical chain that links the end-to-end material flow together. Our organization helps propel us forward and achieve true mission partnership.
What You’ll Do- Plan sequential manufacturing and assembly operations; estimate and generate production schedules that align with the program master schedule and provide continuous updates to maintain accuracy.
- Review engineering drawings to identify parts, materials, and fabrication tooling needs. Identify long-lead procurement requirements and manage the kitting and staging of materials from inventory to meet manufacturing demands.
- Create and execute purchase requisitions through the approval process. Manage material traceability documentation and maintain manufacturing development work requests and configuration requirements.
- Proactively anticipate material or part shortages and delays; execute expedite strategies to eliminate impacts on the project schedule.
- Resolve complex planning and scheduling issues. Work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve material discrepancies and provide detailed manufacturing status reports.
- Foster positive, productive working relationships across the SBU/SSU and the broader company to ensure exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Location & TravelThis position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
