Job Description & How to Apply Below
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in the Denver/Zone 3 area, requiring a minimum of 2 years of MS‑Tele experience and the flexibility to float across multiple facilities within a 60‑mile zone.
Requirements- Active CO state RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of MS‑Tele RN experience required
- Prior neuro experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience
- Candidate's permanent residence must be at least 60 miles from the Denver city center (the zone's city center) to qualify — a copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidate may not have been directly employed (full‑time, part‑time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Float pool position covering multiple acute care hospital facilities within Zone 3, centered around Denver, CO — including locations in Lakewood, Longmont, and Westminster
- Float unit covers a wide range of MS‑Tele specialties including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs
- Patient population consists of adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post‑surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
- Nurse‑to‑patient ratio of 1:5–6 based on acuity
- RNs may be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS‑Tele
- Heparin drip titration required
- RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP present on unit
- Charting performed in Epic
- Night shift, 12‑hour shifts (7p–7a)
- 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6‑week schedule
- Schedules are released 4–6 weeks in advance; travelers are expected to be flexible to help fill gaps in permanent staff scheduling
- Facility assignments follow one of two formats: scheduled at a single facility for the week (with possible intra‑facility floating), or Just‑In‑Time (JIT) assignment communicated 1–2 hours before shift start
- On‑call or standby requirements are rare and typically related to low census
- 13‑week contract
- No single home base facility — travelers float throughout all facilities within Zone 3 across a 60‑mile radius from the Denver city center; it is the traveler's responsibility to secure housing that makes this feasible
- Orientation consists of approximately 1–2 days with a preceptor; clinicians must be in‑state for the week of orientation even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Each unit has a designated charge nurse who does not typically take a patient assignment; night shift charge nurses may occasionally carry a small patient load
- Nurse aides are available on the unit
- Holiday rotation coverage may be required
- All time‑off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
- Any color scrubs are permitted
- High Pay and Bonuses
- Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options
- 401(k) Plan
- Weekly Payroll Deposit
- Free Online CEUs
- Generous Housing Allowance
- Travel and Licensure Reimbursements
- Non‑taxed Per Diem and Subsidy
- Traveler Rewards and Discounts
