The Seasonal Park Ranger position is responsible for providing public safety and natural resource protection through education and enforcement at Standley Lake Regional Park and Wildlife Refuge. This position assists with and responds to emergency medical and law enforcement situations, public outreach, park projects and performs routine park maintenance. Additional responsibilities include providing visitor services, patrolling park areas in vehicles, by boat and on foot, enforcing park rules and guidelines, ensuring compliance with the Aquatic Nuisance Species program (ANS), providing information and education to the public.
Seasonal Park Rangers also assist with paddle craft rental transactions, and campground operations. Recreation staff have the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of program participants and promoting conservation and stewardship efforts. This position is classified as safety-sensitive due to the nature of the work. Employees in this position may be subject to random drug testing and/or heightened supervision per the personnel policies and rules.
Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule from mid-April through early October including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Seasonal Park Rangers will work up to 20 hours the first week and up to 40 hours after the first week.
- Receive CPR, First Aid and AED certification good for 2 (two) years
- Learn how to operate ATVs, tractors and patrol boat
- Gain knowledge on the flora and fauna of Westminster
- Work primarily outdoors exposed to the beautiful landscapes Standley Lake Regional Park has to offer
The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.
