Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
* High school diploma or equivalent plus specialized courses in mechanical theory, basic electrical, experience in metal work, including welding and sheet metal fabrication.
* More than one year of experience in gutter and roof repair, gym equipment repair or replacement and metal fatigue and wear.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Metal working skills.
* Operating knowledge of gym equipment repair desired.
* English language skills required. Bilingual desirable.
* Basic mathematical skills.
* Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
* Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel in a positive and cooperative manner.
* Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
* Ability to read, understand and interpret policies and procedures, laws, rules and instructions.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Ability to pass various pre-employment background screenings.
* Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, building and department procedures.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
* Valid Colorado driver's license.
* BOCES Safety Training Certificate required within 60 days of hire.
* State asbestos contractor/supervisor license required within one year of hire.
* Commercial driver's license (CDL) required within one year of hire.
* Playground license required within one year of hire.
* Certified A & B operator fuel island required within one year of hire.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Maintains communications by:
* Meeting with supervisor and/or District staff, e.g., projects, vendors, District needs.
* Being accessible via District communication devices.
* Responding to requests submitted electronically.
* Preserve District structures, facilities and assets to ensure a safe environment by:
* Adhering to District guidelines and procedures.
* Complying with federal, state and local building codes and regulations.
* Using approved District methods to exterminate insects and vermin.
* Installing custom-fit walk-off mats.
* Educating on the proper use and maintenance of equipment, e.g., fuel island, main gate lifts.
* Inspecting fire extinguishers biannually.
* Removing snow from grounds, e.g., snow plow, snow blower, ice melt.
* Applying chemicals and fertilizer.
* Cleaning, inspecting and installing storm water drains.
* Performing landscaping duties, e.g., mowing, trimming, watering, tree removals, weeding, walls, fences, concrete.
* Assessing proper operation of grounds equipment and tools.
* Providing preventative maintenance on equipment, e.g., vehicles, lubing equipment, sharpening and replacing blades.
* Participating in required professional development.
* Maintain District assets by:
* Fabricating, installing and repairing window shades.
* Repairing window slides.
* Cutting and molding sheet metal for repairs, e.g., down spouts, gutters.
* Making necessary sewing repairs, e.g., vacuum backpack harnesses, stage curtains.
* Installing basic floors and estimating associated costs.
* Installing metal plates on floor joints.
* Replacing and repairing tiles, e.g., laminate floor tiles.
* Re-adhering loose or torn carpet.
* Installing and replacing cove base.
* Performing biannual preventative maintenance, e.g., down spouts, gym equipment, roof, drains, gutters.
* Developing preventative maintenance procedures.
* Provide services to the District by:
* Completing work orders as received.
* Remaining available for 24 hour on-call emergency duty pursuant to a schedule assignment.
* Serving on snow removal team.
* Assisting other trades as necessary.
