The Electrician I/II/III is responsible for skilled technical work in the installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of various electrical components and equipment in City facilities. Tasks involve the use of acquired skills in electrical installation and general maintenance, electrical repair and construction activities related to building operations.
Electrician II requires a Journeyman Electrical license issued by the State of Colorado or reciprocal state.
Electrician III requires a Master Electrical license issued by the State of Colorado or reciprocal state. This position will also be required to work on non-electrical issues performed by the division.
It is a mandatory requirement of this position to work overtime, take weekend duty, and be on-call for facility emergencies. Must be able to reach the City limits within 60 minutes after being contacted when on-call. This is a safety-sensitive position.
The salary range is:
Electrician I: $74,942.40 – $95,929.60;
Electrician II: $80,537.60 – $;
Electrician III: $86,569.60 – $. Salaries depend on qualifications and experience.
Employees who are conversationally fluent in languages other than English may qualify for a bi‑weekly stipend under the Multilingual Stipend Program.
Responsibilities- Maintain a computerized maintenance management system and related maintenance files, spare parts inventory, manpower and maintenance forecasting.
- Implement all safety procedures related to the work performed, including Lockout/Tagout and Chemical Handling procedures.
- Communicate effectively with customers and staff, providing appropriate customer service and interaction.
- Perform work safely, following state and local codes, safety precautions, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Supervise maintenance staff as needed, including reading and interpreting electrical plans and specifications for compliance.
- Prepare and maintain necessary records and reports.
- Maintain electrical, mechanical, and other equipment in a number of municipal buildings.
- Operate various small tools and perform semi‑skilled to skilled tasks in maintenance and repair of City facilities.
- Requisition parts and materials for needed repairs.
- Work with outside contractors for specialized repairs, modifications, and workload management.
- Install, repair, and conduct preventative maintenance of electronics on control systems, electrical circuits, and systems.
- Remove and overhaul pumps, motors, and compressors.
- Perform general electrical work in the alteration and maintenance of City facilities.
- Conduct monthly inspections of elevators and elevator equipment, as required by law.
- Operate, maintain, and test fire alarm control panels and associated components (duct detectors, smoke detectors, heat detectors).
- Operate, maintain, and test emergency generators.
- Operate, maintain, and test security camera, burglar alarm, and electronic access control systems.
- Assist Facilities Management Supervisor in monitoring outside contracts and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and city regulations, codes, specifications, and contract documents.
- Assist in the preparation of bid documents for assigned projects.
- Monitor outside contractors during inspections and repairs.
- Work independently on field inspections, exercising technical judgment and taking remedial action when needed.
