Overview

The Judicial Branch seeks a Specialized Populations Officer – Adult to provide case management and supervision for high-risk individuals in the Problem-Solving Court program, post-release supervision, and related high-risk adult and juvenile probation cases (e.g., sex offenders, domestic violence offenders, and drug offenses).

Location:

Fremont, NE. Salary: starting at $60,313.77 annually with potential increases and shifting pay based on education and experience. This position is in-office with occasional travel and may require non-traditional hours to support 24/7 community safety commitments.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate, monitor, and supervise high-risk probationers, post-release individuals, and participants in the Problem-Solving Court program.
  • Perform counseling, case management, case reporting, and related caseload duties under supervision.
  • Develop a team supervision approach with referral sources (e.g., PSI officer, Navigation Officer, Problem-Solving Court Team, jail staff, caseworkers).
  • Engage in the treatment process through regular communication with treatment providers and participation in treatment groups; assist in relapse prevention planning.
  • Facilitate groups (topical, supervision, cognitive programs, skill-building, life skills, and general education).
  • Prepare violation and compliance reports; update client information in relevant systems; determine reports for court updates.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as needed; assignments may vary by department.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in social services, Criminal Justice, or directly related field.
  • Experience:

    2 years of case management experience in related fields.
  • Note:

    An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be accepted. All educational credits must be from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
  • Knowledge:
    Customer service principles;
    Criminal Justice system, laws, codes, and court procedures; interview/assessment practices; intervention policies; cognitive skill building; crisis intervention; office procedures; recordkeeping; and relevant software.
  • Skills:

    Home visits; interviewing probationers; tracking locations; applying laws and regulations; preparing activity reports; operating computer systems; effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Light work with occasional lifting; ability to travel; environment may include threats or odors.
Location & Schedule

2860 W 23 Drive, Fremont, NE 68025. In-office only with occasional travel. Core hours are Monday–Friday daytime; some non-traditional hours may be required to support 24/7 commitments.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Starting Salary: $60,313.77 annually (Hiring Rate).
  • Immediate Growth: 2.5% pay increase after probation period (subject to eligibility constraints).
  • Starting Rate Flexibility:
    Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience.
  • Future Increases:
    Annual cost-of-living adjustments, subject to legislative approval.
