JOB DESCRIPTION MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACTThe Software Engineer-Mid will support Special Operations Command - North (SOCNORTH) located at Peterson AFB (Colorado Springs), Colorado.
JOB DUTIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)As a Software Engineer, you will design and maintain data-driven backend systems to provide secure, high-performance search and analytics capabilities, with a focus on supporting U.S. national security missions. This role involves developing applications using Python or JavaScript/Type Script; for Python, the Streamlit library is preferred, while React is used for JavaScript/Type Script projects. You will develop backend services for data ingestion and retrieval, design APIs and microservices using Python Flask or FastAPI, and implement Dev Sec Ops practices such as CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
Additionally, a crucial part of the job involves conducting Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on Commercially Available Information (CAI), Publicly Available Information (PAI), and other datasets. Data is stored in Postgres databases and can be accessed via SQL Alchemy. Expertise in backend programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java, experience with search and data systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and Dev Sec Ops practices are essential.
SKILLS
- Proficient in JavaScript/Type Script React and Python.
- Proficient in Flask or FastAPI and familiar with relational/non-relational databases including Postgres and Elasticsearch.
- Proficient with Git, SQL Alchemy, and basic CI/CD pipeline support.
- Clearance: Current DoW TS/SCI Clearance is required.
- Experience: 5 years of related software development experience.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Certifications: None required; familiarity with AWS, Docker, and Dev Sec Ops tools is preferred.
- Role requirements: 5 days on-site

The likely salary range for this position is $108,800 - $147,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
