Position Purpose / Important Application Information

The Fitness Instructor - Aquatics is responsible for providing instruction to participants of various ages and abilities for water fitness classes. Recreation staff have the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of program participants.

The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

  • Utilize warm‑up and cool‑down exercises to safely engage class in exercises while minimizing injuries

  • Provides proper instruction of water fitness classes
  • Sets up and tears down class equipment provided by the center
  • Monitors heart rate of participants and provides proper warm‑up and cool‑down exercises
  • Incorporates strength building and cardio activities into the routine as appropriate for the intended purpose of a class
  • Interacts with class participants
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains all required certifications
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings
