Position: Staff Accountant / Accounts Receivable (Direct Hire)
Location: Westminster, MD
Shift: 1st Shift
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000
Full-Time: 8 hours Monday to Friday
Interview: In-Person

OverviewThe AR Staff Accountant is responsible for Government contract review, order processing, aging report monitoring, customer account research, collection note preparation, investigating and resolving customer billing discrepancies, and collecting or preparing credits. This role requires familiarity and experience with government contracting.
Job PurposeThe AR Staff Accountant is responsible for Government contract review, order processing, aging report monitoring, customer account research, collection note preparation, investigating and resolving customer billing discrepancies, and collecting or preparing credits.
Job DescriptionThis position conducts cost accounting, project set-up, preparation for DCAA compliance audits, contract closeouts as well as indirect rate and incurred cost submission preparation. Includes processing cash applications, invoicing, credit memo preparation, and the review and update of credit lines and risk codes. In addition, this person will aid with account reconciliations, revenue reporting and other A/R related functions.
Key Responsibilities- Order processing – Closes orders in QAD after matching products, quantity, ship to, bill to and total dollar amount to customer PO or SO.
- Contracts/Projects set-up for T&M, Fixed Price, CPFF and more.
- Review key contract terms and ensure accurate revenue accounting consistent with US GAAP.
- Administers credit and collections activities.
- Prepares credit recommendations to establish open account terms and increase credit limits, among other tasks.
- Enters sales invoice information into the QAD Accounting system and produces accurate customer invoices.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information in support of general ledger journal entries.
- Prepares incurred costs submission reports.
- Files and maintains accounting records.
- Perform other administrative projects as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
(KSA’s)
- DOD/government experience; this is a must.
- Cost plus contracts experience, DCAA audits, and setting standards to DCMA.
- Exostar experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Government web portals such as WAWF and IPP as well as prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin and Exostar.
- Ability to perform in a high-growth, fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
- Must show a high degree of initiative.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Navision accounting software is a plus.
- Meticulous attention to detail; excellent data review and processing skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive material professionally.
- B.S. in Accounting or Business preferred. High School Diploma required.
- Must have Government contracting experience.
- QAD knowledge preferred or similar ERP software.
- A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a similar position with knowledge of key accounting principles, especially pertaining to Government Contracting.
