Job Description
Position Summary: The Project Engineer is responsible for the design and development of HVAC systems and controls for passenger rail transit vehicles. The primary objectives are to deliver HVAC systems on-time, within budget, and in compliance with specifications, while achieving high customer satisfaction and managing risk.
Responsibilities
- Design system concepts and perform system calculations, develop schematics (piping diagrams), and provide integration and commissioning support.
- Prepare technical proposals and develop system specifications and documentation (system descriptions, tests, analyses).
- Create and maintain system bill of materials, provide costing/weight estimates, and monitor specification compliance with waivers as required.
- Support internal teams with documentation reviews, customer feedback to design engineers, and project management input.
- Develop new systems for the North American market based on customer requirements; provide technical support to other Systems Engineers.
- Provide quarterly updates to Senior Staff and Department Managers on project progress.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy work environment and comply with company rules and policies.
- Adhere to quality, product safety, and HSE standards; understand applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, CMMI).
- Maintain and safeguard business records; substitute for Team Leader as needed; represent the company at customer-facing events when required.
- Provide support to colleagues and undertake other duties as requested.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment or similar electromechanical systems; thermodynamics, physics, system calculations, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and refrigeration systems.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager. Rail experience is a plus.
Education / Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for Westminster, MD is $89,000 to $134,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, qualifications, and applicable plan documents.
