The Technician I conducts pre‑build inspections of components and performs a variety of general mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components to build HVAC units for use in the rail car industry according to drawing specifications.

• Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure compliance with company rules and policies.
• Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations.
• Must understand and comply with applicable standards (i.e., ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, and CMMI).

Essential Functions:

• Conduct pre‑build inspections of components, noting any pre‑existing or handling‑damage prior to beginning the build process.
• Utilize approved manufacturing work instructions and hand, pneumatic, and power tools to assemble components according to drawing specifications, while adhering to quality requirements and best practices.
• Assembly processes, performed in an assembly line area, include:
  • Installation of sub‑assemblies and other components
  • Installing gaskets and sealants
  • Running wiring
  • Fixing components and hardware installation
  • Building wiring harnesses per work instruction and/or schematics
  • Installation and assembly of unit electrical assemblies and other components
• Inform supervisor of any part or equipment defects noted during the build process.
• Monitor the shelf life of any consumables used to complete the build process and follow all established disposal methods.
• Perform serialization of parts in SAP, the enterprise resource planning system, as pertaining to work orders.
• Provide support and assistance to other technicians and team members, as directed, and any other duties as assigned by the Cell Leader or Senior Personnel.
