Manufacturing Technician
This role focuses on producing high-quality composite parts and structures using filament winding equipment. You will work hands-on with glass, carbon, and other fibers, operating specialized machinery and tools to manufacture components according to detailed project specifications and standard procedures.
Responsibilities- Operate filament winding equipment to manufacture parts and structures using glass, carbon, and other fibers in accordance with project specifications.
- Develop a hands-on working knowledge of winding machines, resin mixing equipment, hoists, extractors, curing ovens, and other ancillary equipment required in the winding process.
- Produce products following standard procedures, process specifications, and written work instructions to ensure consistency and quality.
- Set up and tear down production machinery, validate the progress of machine operations, and make adjustments as necessary to maintain proper function.
- Feed raw materials or parts into semi-automated machines and monitor output to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials required to complete each production process step.
- Position parts and subassemblies using templates or by reading and interpreting measurements to meet product specifications.
- Assemble parts manually or using hand and power tools so that finished products match all required specifications.
- Accurately use measuring devices such as pi-tape, calipers, and air pressure gauges to verify dimensions and performance.
- Operate power tools including hand saws, drill guns, and band saws safely and effectively during assembly and fabrication tasks.
- Perform data entry tasks, including inputting production and process information into Excel or other tracking systems.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in the production environment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate in written and spoken English.
- Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools.
- Experience with composites or textiles in a production environment.
- Ability to accurately use measuring devices such as pi-tape, calipers, and air pressure gauges.
- Ability to operate power tools including hand saws, drill guns, and band saws.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Comfort working with filament winding equipment and related manufacturing processes.
- Basic proficiency with data entry and using Excel.
Skills & Qualifications
- Technical degree or vocational training in a related field is a plus.
- Experience with Fanuc controls is a plus.
- Experience in assembly and production work.
- Experience working with composites and textile materials.
- Ability to follow detailed process specifications and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with semi-automated machinery.

WorkEnvironment
This position is based in a production and manufacturing environment at a facility that builds composite over wrapped pressure vessels (COPVs) for advanced aerospace applications. You will work with filament winding machines, resin mixing equipment, hoists, extractors, curing ovens, and other high-speed machinery, as well as hand and power tools. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with approximately 50-hour work weeks and occasional Saturdays as needed.
