Registered Nurse – Float Pool
Location: Carroll Hospital, Westminster, MD
Shift: 2:45 PM–3:15 AM | 12‑hour shifts | Full‑time | On‑site
Department: Float Pool
Summary: Carroll Hospital is seeking a skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse to join the Float Pool team. This is a premium opportunity for an experienced nurse looking to work across a variety of inpatient units. The Float Pool RN will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care while floating between Med‑Surg, IMC, PCU, CCU, and the Emergency Department based on staffing needs.
Clinical Practice- Utilize sound clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and decision‑making.
- Apply evidence‑based practice and situational learning in patient care.
- Accurately assess and document patient condition, pain, and comfort measures.
- Develop individualized plans of care, discharge planning, and educational support.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate and integrate patient care.
- Participate in daily team huddles, patient care discussions, and team meetings.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure timely follow‑up.
- Provide patient and family education to support informed decision‑making.
- Stay current with nursing best practices, research, and hospital protocols.
- Engage in quality improvement efforts and peer review.
- Demonstrate customer service excellence and uphold hospital standards.
- Follow standard algorithms, protocols, and safety policies across all units.
- Perform hourly rounding and proactive patient engagement.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Work toward the reduction of Nurse Sensitive Indicators (NSIs).
- Active RN license with the Maryland Board of Nursing (or comparable compact state eligibility).
- AHA BLS Provider certification – required.
- AHA ACLS certification – required.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an IMC or higher‑acuity care setting.
- Flexibility and comfort working across multiple inpatient units.
