Assistant Store Manager – Goodwill Monocacy Valley
Location:
Westminster, MD. 200 Baltimore Blvd., 21157. Starting pay: $50,958.00 per year, with eligibility for a monthly bonus based on performance goals. The role leads daily operations of the sales floor at a Retail Store location for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and affiliated entities, supporting the Goodwill mission of ending unemployment.
- Develop and execute retail operations plan to meet daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly income, revenue, and production goals.
- Monitor product levels (floor work, as‑is, recycle, trash, seasonal back stock) daily to reach bottom line sales budget targets.
- Manage payroll and operating costs within the budget.
- Ensure team members deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers, de‑escalating situations and finding appropriate solutions.
- Maintain a clean, well‑kept store that reflects the Goodwill brand.
- Partner with community businesses and organizations to promote the Goodwill mission and serve as a Goodwill ambassador.
- Lead day‑to‑day sales floor operations and train the Retail Store Associates and Customer Service Manager.
- Serve as key holder, closing shift manager, and backup to the Store Manager.
- Process complex sales transactions, including customer returns.
- Ensure team members operate per company standards and procedures.
- Assist other GCNA locations and attend personal training and development classes, with potential transfers as business needs dictate.
- Collaborate with support areas such as Asset Protection, Human Resources, Safety, and Finance to achieve business goals and ensure compliance.
- Build a high‑performing team and conduct performance management (coaching, discipline, improvement plans, annual reviews).

- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- One year of retail management experience.
- One year of customer service experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable.
- Proficiency in speaking and reading English.
