Commercial Carpenter Full-Time | Commercial Construction | Airport & Federal Projects
J & J 2000, Inc dba J & J Construction is seeking a skilled Commercial Carpenter to join our growing team. We specialize in interior commercial construction, with a significant portion of our work performed in airports and secure federal facilities. Quality craftsmanship, safety, and professionalism are core expectations of this role.
Primary ResponsibilitiesFraming
Metal stud and wood framing (walls, soffits, bulkheads, backing). Layout per drawings and field conditions.
Drywall
Hang drywall on walls and ceilings. Tape, finish, sand, and prepare surfaces for paint.
Painting
Prime and paint interior commercial spaces. Finish and touch-up work as required.
Acoustical Ceilings
Install ACT grid and ceiling tiles. Coordinate with lighting, HVAC, and fire protection.
Doors, Frames & Hardware
Install hollow metal and wood doors and frames. Install and adjust door hardware (locks, closers, panic devices).
General Carpentry
Blocking, wall protection, punch list work. Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas. Follow company safety rules and site‑specific requirements.
Required QualificationsDemonstrated experience in commercial carpentry. Proficiency in:
- Framing
- Drywall hanging and finishing
- Painting
- Acoustical ceilings
- Door and hardware installation
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong attention to detail and workmanship. Ability to work independently or as part of a crew. Reliable transportation and ability to report to varying job sites. Ability to pass background checks and obtain airport security badges, as required by the projects.
Work Environment & ExpectationsFull‑time position; standard workweek is 40 hours, with overtime as required by project demands.
Work may be performed in active airports and secure facilities.

Employees must maintain eligibility for airport badging; permanent badge loss is grounds for termination.
