💰 Compensation: $55,000–$80,000 base salary, depending on experience
About the RoleA growing small business in the western suburbs is seeking an Accounting & Business Manager to take ownership of day‑to‑day accounting operations and serve as a key partner to leadership. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a smaller office environment, enjoys wearing many hats, and wants to make a direct impact on financial processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.
This role offers the chance to build structure, streamline workflows, and work closely with ownership in a hands‑on, collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full‑cycle accounting for multiple entities, including AP/AR, reconciliations, month‑end close, and financial reporting in Quick Books.
- Maintain accurate books, track expenses, support budgeting, and prepare financial summaries for internal stakeholders.
- Assist with forecasting, planning, and the development of financial insights for management decision‑making.
- Oversee vendor communication, invoicing, internal documentation, and general operational accounting processes.
- Collaborate with external bookkeeping, CPA, and advisory partners as needed.
- Create or refine systems and workflows that improve accounting accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.
- Provide actionable data, reporting, and metrics to support leadership and business goals.
- Special projects as needed
Required:
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a small‑business environment.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, period‑end close, and financial statement preparation.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
- Familiarity with modern accounting software.
- Willingness to assist with additional office responsibilities when needed.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience with multi‑entity accounting or commission‑related reporting.
- Comfort supporting HR, benefits, or administrative processes.
