Job DescriptionJLL is seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Senior Associate Accountant I for our Client Accounting Services team in Westmont, IL. This role involves managing complex accounting tasks, preparing property‑level financial statements, guiding more junior staff, and supporting diverse clients.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of accounting and analytical skills, and can work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING- Independently manage financial reporting processes including journal entries, financial statement preparation, actual‑to‑budget variance review, and bank reconciliations in accordance with client requirements.
- Participate in monthly calls with JLL Property Management and clients.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly property financial statements for a complex multi‑property portfolio for presentation to and by the deadlines established by JLL clients.
- Complete and submit financial statements and work papers in reviewable form and within the proper time frame for review.
- Serve as accounting resource for property teams, providing guidance on procedures and responding to questions from clients.
- Support both JLL’s global business and clients by providing oversight and serving as main point of contact between global partners and clients.
- Participate in internal and external audits and coordinate with various departments on requirements.
- Oversee property‑level cash management processes including bank reconciliations, critical payment processing, reimbursements to JLL, timely recording of cash receipts, and fraud prevention protocols.
- Maintain a working knowledge of management agreements and loan agreements for assigned properties.
- Support your manager by assisting with the training and guidance of more junior team members.
- Partner with property management in the preparation, calculation, and review of the year‑end reconciliation process.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 2‑5 years of accounting experience.
- Adaptability – maintains effectiveness in varying environments, tasks, and responsibilities, or with various types of people.
- Planning and organizing – ability to establish a course of action to accomplish goals and evaluate results.
- Ability to multitask, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize and manage time and workload to meet client needs.
- Client focus – dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of all business partners and clients, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients, and gaining their trust and respect.
- Microsoft Office Suite knowledge, specifically Excel.
- Experience with real‑estate accounting and specific software including Yardi and MRI.
