Reports to Director of Student Services and Early Childhood

Qualifications:

• Illinois Public Educator License (PEL) with Administrative or Principal Endorsement License
• Certificate or endorsement in one or more related fields of special education, including special education teacher or other related service area

• Comprehensive and current knowledge of IDEA, State and Federal education laws and regulations

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Regularly meet with the Director of Student Services and Early Childhood
• Represents the District and serves as case manager/liaison for students receiving services outside of the district
• Regularly attends and/or schedules various types of IEP and evaluation meetings for students in out-of-district placement or being considered for out-of-district placement
• Attends IEP, annual review, and manifestation determination meetings for students receiving special education services under an individual service plan
• Assists the team in determining eligibility for placement and appropriate placements and services for students
• Assists the team in developing the individualized education plan for students in private placement or being considered for private placement, including a behavior management plan, if appropriate, and participation in any academic and/or extracurricular activities at the home building
• Explains the concept of appropriate education in the least restrictive environment to parents and team members
• Utilizes knowledge of the continuum of services to assure students are educated in the least restrictive environment
• If a student cannot be educated appropriately within the District, suggest possible out-of-district placements that may offer appropriate educational programming
• Arranges visits to potential out-of-district facilities for parents and students
• When an out-of-district facility has been identified and has accepted the student, it facilitates the placement, including the transmittal of student records and scheduling special transportation
• Ensures that students in out-of-district placements receive all programs and services specified in their individual education plan
• Maintains a working relationship with the administration of out-of-district placements
• Maintains a working relationship with the parents of District students placed in out-of-district placements
• Supports students and families identified as eligible under McKinney-Vento in accessing community resources, as needed, in collaboration with the district McKinney-Vento Liaison
• Provides the Director of Student Services and Early Childhood with reports as requested
• Assume any other duties as may from time to time be delegated by the Director of Student Services and Early Childhood

Compensation: $500.00 per day, up to, but not to exceed 70 days
