Long-Term Substitute EL Teacher

The EL Teacher is responsible for facilitating the learning and development of language skills in students with diverse cultural backgrounds. This role involves collaborating with team members, planning and implementing differentiated lesson plans, and coordinating programs to address the needs of English Learners (ELs). The EL Teacher will work closely with administrators, teachers, and department staff to enhance language instruction, promote cultural adaptation, and foster parental involvement.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Facilitation of Learning:
    Provide instruction in various subjects, emphasizing language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and other exploratory classes to support the overall development of ELs.
  • Lesson Planning and Differentiated Instruction:
    Develop and implement lesson plans focusing on differentiated learning experiences, integrating technology to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Collaboration:

    Collaborate and co-teach with team members to create and implement differentiated lesson plans, fostering an inclusive student environment.
  • Behavior Management:
    Establish and maintain positive student behavior within the classroom and school environment, identifying and addressing individual student needs.
  • Assessment and Record Keeping:
    Evaluate and monitor student academic and social growth, maintaining accurate records through formal and informal data collection methods.
  • Parental Communication:
    Communicate classroom information and student progress with guardians through various channels, including email, conferences, and digital resources. Translate for families as needed.
  • Professional Growth:
    Commit to personal and professional growth through district-provided activities, self-selected initiatives, and those recommended by the supervising principal.
  • Program Coordination:
    Research and evaluate strategies and programs to address the needs of English Learners, coordinating and supervising the EL program for the district.
  • Staff Development:
    Plan and coordinate professional development classes, presentations, and workshops for certified and classified staff to enhance language instruction and academic support for ELs.
  • Student Support:
    Assist teachers in executing supplemental language instruction, evaluating effectiveness, and constantly monitoring the safety and well-being of students.
  • Cultural Adaptation:
    Support cultural adaptations for EL students, fostering respect for students from diverse cultures.
  • Cultural

    Competency:

    Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members to promote cultural competence and diversity awareness throughout the school community.
  • Parental Involvement:
    Facilitate and encourage parental involvement, assisting language minority families in locating community resources to promote parent effectiveness and student achievement.

Compensation: $260 per day
