About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Coding & Billing Specialist to ensure accurate and timely payment for our patient services. You will play a critical role in our mission to provide breakthrough treatments for mental health conditions like trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression. This is a hybrid position working out of our Westmont, IL clinic.
- Review patient encounter documentation to ensure accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding for claims submission.
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies and manage any denials or claim issues through resolution.
- Collaborate with providers and medical staff to obtain necessary billing information.
- Generate patient statements, collect payments, and provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries via phone, email, and chat.
- Manage delinquent accounts, including sending accounts to collections when necessary.
- Process payer and patient refunds.
- Provide billing support and guidance to medical and support staff.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with all relevant billing regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain current medical billing certification and proficiency (CPC preferred).
- CPC or similar certification (well-qualified CPC-A also considered).
- Minimum of two years of experience in outpatient billing, coding and denials, including claim creation and submissions, Evaluation, & Management (E&M).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with behavioral health billing preferred.
- Experience with Dr. Chrono
- Experience with Athena Health EMR preferred
- Must be able to commute to our Chicagoland office 3 days a week
