Shift Type

4 days per week, 10 hours per week - Variable day off (No weekends)

Responsibilities
  • Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations
  • Treat patients respectfully, in a calm and courteous manner at all times
  • Conduct Perioperative phone screening of pre-operative surgical patients. Provides arrival times and pre-operative instructions to patients
  • Contact patients by telephone prior to surgery to assess medical and medication history, review for appropriate labs, x-ray, EKG orders to determine when these are to be completed and provide pre-admission teaching
  • Conduct a thorough assessment, document findings, and communicate pertinent information to the appropriate medical and clinical personnel
  • Provide the patient and/or legal guardian comprehensive instructions on how to prepare for the procedure/surgery, including pre‑op testing, NPO guidelines, arrival times, what to bring on the day, and the need for a family member to be present
  • Adhere to the pre-admission assessment and screening policy and identify patients that require further review and approval by the anesthesiologist/surgeon before the day of surgery
  • Ensure the medical record is complete with all appropriate test results and required documents, e.g., nursing assessment, H&P, orders, prior to the patient’s arrival
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Associate degree from a two‑year college or university preferred
Certifications / Licensure
  • Current RN license preferred
Experience
  • Graduate from an approved school of professional nursing preferred
  • Two (2) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior working experience with electronic medical records (EMR) software preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Computer efficiency and willingness to learn multiple new programs
Technical Skills
  • Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Computer skills: adept at using various applications including database, spreadsheet, email communication, and specialty software
Soft Skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication; ability to present information to patients, families, and co‑workers
  • Must be able to work variable hours and be flexible to meet the center’s daily surgery schedule
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to function effectively in stressful situations
  • Ability to follow direction, willingness to be trained and learn
  • Ability to work with all disciplines in the facility in a professional manner
  • Display good judgement, initiative, and resourcefulness

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, or hear; occasionally use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience.
