Overview

McCrone Associates, Inc., a leading analytical laboratory, seeks a skilled and innovative laboratory scientist to work full-time as part of a team in our ISO 5 (Class 100) cleanroom facility. The team is responsible for collecting and processing samples of small particles and other materials and preparing them for analysis. The types of materials are varied. Special extraction and processing techniques are employed that require exact record keeping.

Light microscopy is used to identify and characterize the materials and to assist with the preparation of samples for instrumental analysis. In order to isolate particles/samples from a variety of substrates, special micromanipulation techniques and tools are used, that require extreme dexterity with both hands. The scientist works closely with senior scientific staff members throughout the completion of all projects.

Responsibilities

Assist with collecting and processing samples for analysis in an ISO 5 (Class 100) cleanroom. Apply special extraction and processing techniques with precise record keeping. Use light microscopy to identify and characterize materials and help prepare samples for instrumental analysis. Employ micromanipulation techniques and tools that require high dexterity to handle small samples. Collaborate with senior scientific staff to complete projects.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree in a natural science, medical technology or the forensic sciences and five years of relevant laboratory experience. All candidates must have some experience in the use of a microscope and sufficient physical dexterity to perform micromanipulation tasks required to handle the small samples. McCrone is looking for people that have good laboratory skills and exceptional aptitude for details including accurate record keeping.

Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is mandatory.

Summary

This position requires in-person, full-time hours at our laboratory in Westmont, Illinois. There is no shift-work. Travel is not required.

The applicant selected must be a U.S. Citizen and be eligible for a government security clearance. The applicant selected for hire will be subject to a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
