The Village of Westmont is seeking a motivated and willing maintenance worker to join our team in the Underground division of our Public Works Department. This person will work to ensure the below ground infrastructure is maintained and in proper working order.
This position will learn the basics of water main repairs, repair of fire hydrants and valves, storm sewer repairs, storm sewer maintenance and locating of underground utilities for JULIE. This position offers a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the Underground division with potential to prepare for the next step to the Senior Maintenance Worker position. To be considered for the Senior Maintenance Worker position, minimum requirements include obtaining the Class D water license and becoming a competent person in excavation and confined space.

From season to season our days may vary but a glimpse into a day of a Maintenance Worker in the Underground Division:
- Working alone or in pairs to complete JULIE locates
- Repairing storm sewers and water distribution systems
- Storm sewer cleaning and jetting

Where Has YourEducation and Experience Lead You?
- Familiar with a municipality or similar agency, preferably with experience in water distribution or storm sewer systems.
- Having a team mindset in all settings but especially those in emergency situations where there are many things going on at once.
- Being able to work with different types of tools, from hand tools to large machinery such as bobcats and forklifts.
- Preferably having your Illinois CDL Class “B” license with tanker endorsement and airbrakes
This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position with a starting wage range of $26.60/hr – $34.91/hr (DOQ).
